Pure excitement before Christmas: Red Bulls visit Klagenfurt Third clash between the neighbors with the same number of points // win2day ICE Hockey LeagueThe last round of the win2day ICE Hockey League will be played on Sunday, before the Christmas holidays. The Red Bulls will be at EC-KAC and will be looking for their first win in their third game of the season against the Carinthians (17:30, ORF Sport+). The Red Bulls shook off their previous bitter CHL defeat against Färjestad Karlstad with a clear 6-2 home win against Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday and put themselves in position for the ICE clash in Klagenfurt. But the KAC also underlined its good form yesterday with a 7:1 away win against the Pioneers Vorarlberg.

Starting position
For the third time this season, the KAC and the Red Bulls will face each other in the Salzburg-Carinthia derby, which is eagerly awaited as usual. The first two encounters went beyond regular time, with the KAC coming out on top both times, once after a penalty shoot-out and once in overtime. There doesn't seem to be any home advantage in this duel and so Salzburg are looking to secure their first win of the season against Head Coach Kirk Furey's squad on home ice just before Christmas.
Both teams in lockstep
The two teams are in very similar positions, apart from the fact that the Red Bulls have played three fewer league games than Klagenfurt due to the CHL play-offs. The Red Bulls are in 5th place in the table, level on points with sixth-placed Klagenfurt. The KAC have won seven of their last ten games, the Red Bulls six (including the CHL quarter-final in Karlstad).
The two clubs are also similar in terms of performance, having scored 99 goals each so far, making them the second most offensive team in the league after Villach (104). Only in defense do the Red Bulls perform better, conceding 72 goals to Klagenfurt's 82.

“We brought a lot of energy to the ice again yesterday. We didn't have that on the last CHL trip to Sweden. That was very impressive, especially considering the very tight schedule. The guys had good legs again, we got ourselves into shooting positions and also blocked shots. We need this kind of routine in every game and I hope we have the legs on Sunday in Klagenfurt.”
