First trip to Ljubljana for Red BullsExcitement ahead of first season encounter with the 'Dragons' // win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg will play its first home game in the win2day ICE Hockey League tomorrow, Friday, against Olimpija Ljubljana (18:00, livestream).
The Slovenian league representative has played an impressive first round so far and is currently fighting for a place among the top six teams.

Starting position After two recent home victories against the two last-placed teams in the win2day ICE Hockey League from Innsbruck and Feldkirch and a winning streak of seven games across all competitions, the Red Bulls will face a team on Friday that, after a strong start to the season with four wins in a row, has only suffered its first setback in the last five games with just as many defeats, including Klagenfurt, Bolzano, Linz and Graz.
The Red Bulls will not be fooled by this, as they won all four games in the basic round last season, but had to go into overtime or a penalty shoot-out in the last two encounters. The face of the team has also changed in the meantime. Twelve players left the club in the summer and eleven new ones were brought in. Finnish head coach Antti Karhula has thus had enough time to mold his largely new team into a unit.
Top newcomer from the NHL as a catalyst? The signing of Nick Bonino made big waves in the media last week in Ljubljana. The 36-year-old American, who has yet to play a game this season, has a total of 973 NHL games and has won two Stanley Cups (2016 and 2017 with the Pittsburgh Penguins). Last season, the forward played 45 games with the New York Rangers. On Friday against the Red Bulls, the NHL star could make his league debut with Olimpija Ljubljana.
Highlights Olimpija Ljubljana vs. Red Bulls | 16.2.24
Statement by Peter Hochkofler
“It's generally difficult against Ljubljana. They have fast and tough players and we expect a correspondingly difficult game. They can score goals out of nothing, so we have to be ready for that. Nevertheless, we want to improve small things and continue to come together as a team.”
Vadim Schreiner out for a long time
Vadim Schreiner suffered a broken wrist in yesterday's home game against the Pioneers Vorarlberg and will be out for several weeks. The 19-year-old German forward joined the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy in 2020 and scored his third goal in his debut season in the win2day ICE Hockey League just yesterday. Schreiner is being treated conservatively and has already left the hospital.
