Highlights ZSC Lions vs. Red Bulls
The starting position Four games, eight points - the Red Bulls have performed excellently in the CHL Regular Season so far and are in 6th place in the table after four of six games (the top 16 teams qualify for the playoff round of 16). The 4:2 away win against the Swiss champions ZSC Lions, who were literally taken by surprise by the Red Bulls, who had a great offense and were strong defensively in the end, was outstanding.
With the Växjö Lakers, the Red Bulls face a no less difficult task. The Swedish top teams are all among the best in Europe and also determine the level in the CHL. Färjestad Karlstad is top of the table, followed by the Växjö Lakers in third place. The club from the south of Sweden has so far drawn level with Eisbären Berlin, Oceláři Třinec (CZE) and Storhamar Hamar (NOR). Only the 2:3 OT home defeat against the Sheffield Steelers (GBR) surprised the experts.

The Swedes only gave a taste of their skills in Zell am See in August, when they won the final against the ZSC Lions 4:3 after overtime following their 4:0 semi-final victory against Red Bull Munich. Head coach Jörgen Jönsson, a multiple Olympic champion, world champion and Swedish champion as a player, has five young cracks in his squad who were drafted by the NHL. In the Swedish championship SHL, the Lakers are in 8th place after 3 wins and 3 losses.
The two teams have already met four times in the CHL. In the 2017/18 season, Salzburg lost to the Swedes in the round of 16 after a 2:1 home win with a 3:5 defeat in Växjö. A year later, the Red Bulls lost 5-2 away in the regular season and won 4-3 at home a week later.

Statement Daniel Petersson
“Swedish teams are strong running teams with a very structured game. We need a good start, just like in Zurich. Växjö are also tactically very well set up and are known for controlling the game. I expect a good game from both teams and if we concentrate on our strengths, we can disrupt them. We're going there to win.”
