Everything was new for him at the beginning. For the first time in Europe, Nash Nienhuis had to get used to a lot of things. The language, driving, shopping, the local food and, last but not least, arriving in a completely new team. In the meantime, the 24-year-old, who has Canadian, American and Austrian citizenship, has settled in well and shows this with his speed and good technique on the ice.
At least he was already prepared for the level of play in the win2day ICE Hockey League, as he was coached in the NCAA by Brad Fast, who once played for the Red Bulls himself in the 2007/08 season. In the following interview, Nash talks about field hockey in college, his move to Salzburg to turn professional, his father, who is also famous in Austria, and the Austrian national team.

And if you were wondering whether the surname Nienhuis (pronounced: Nienhaus) comes from the Netherlands, you were right. Nash's paternal grandfather, Jake Nienhuis, emigrated from Holland to Canada when he was around 15 years old and took the name with him.
