Three questions for Salzburg defenceman Paul Stapelfeldt
How well prepared is the team for the tournament this early in the season?
It's a difficult phase after only three to four weeks of training, especially when you have games with a playoff character coming up. We have to be really ready and fully committed, because we know that every game is about everything.
To what extent can the strong World Cup in May this year help you in the upcoming tournament?
The memories are very vivid. We saw and showed what is possible when we reach our top level of performance. So we set the bar relatively high for ourselves. Now we have to confirm these performances. The tournament starts from scratch again, so we'll have to go on the attack and give everything we've got to achieve our goal.
The World Championships have also been the highlight for you so far with the Austrian national team. Now the Olympic qualification follows. What does that mean to you?
It's a huge honor to be part of it. It's also a huge opportunity to qualify for the Olympics again after a long time. It's something very special. I'm going into the tournament with the motivation to leave everything I've got there so that I can go to the next Winter Games with Austria.
