Game recap
In the first period, both teams played at eye level and created good opportunities for each other. With a high tempo and the Swedes mainly using long passes, the game went back and forth, with both goalkeepers - Mathias Niederberger in the Munich goal and his counterpart Emil Larmi - excelling on several occasions. The Swedes took an early lead in the second period and initially had more of the play. But the Red Bulls reared up and came close to equalizing several times in an increasingly emotional game. Only Emil Larmi could not be beaten in several scenes directly in front of his penalty area.
The Swedes struck twice early in the final third. After two minutes, Martin Lundberg scored with a follow-up shot (43'), and just two minutes later Dennis Rasmussen increased the lead to 3:0 (45'). The Växjö Lakers thus created clear conditions in what had been a fairly even game up to that point and left nothing to be desired at the back, even if the game left nothing to be desired in terms of emotion and tough duels. The final goal was scored by Victor Stjernborg, who made it 4:0 in the 56th minute.
The Red Bulls from Munich will now play for third place tomorrow, Saturday (15:00). The Växjö Lakers are in the final in their first tournament appearance (Saturday, 19:00).
