The game was then evenly balanced with a high tempo. In the 9th minute, Giovanni Toffoli took advantage of a pass in the attacking zone to score the opening goal for the visitors. The Red Bulls immediately countered with a pressure phase and rotated in the attacking third, but they were unable to score the equalizer. The visitors from Italy got off to a better start in the second period and increased the lead to 2:1 after just 49 seconds (21st) through Timothy Andrews Doherty. Cortina then continued to be dangerous with their quick transition play. However, Simon Wolf made strong saves to prevent any further goals. This support spurred on the Juniors, who started to play better again. However, the Italians remained strong defensively and defused the Red Bulls' offensive actions with a physical approach.
In the final period, the Juniors were able to dictate the pace of the game again. Cortina only exerted pressure in offense during an overtime spell. Timothy Andrews Doherty scored to make it 3:1 for the Italians (44'). In the last two minutes of the game, the Red Bulls tried to score the final goal with their sixth man. However, they were unable to do so and Francesco Adam scored into an empty net (59') to make the final score 4:1.
