The five monthly winners - Lucas Thaler was chosen in November 2023 - who stood out with particularly strong performances in the past basic round are up for election. The vote for the Young Star of the 2023/24 season is open. The fans and TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia will once again choose the winner of the season from the previous monthly winners. In the event of a tie, the better ranking from the fan voting will decide.
Lucas Thaler already with two goals in the current playoffs
The 22-year-old native of Villach has been playing in the Red Bulls' organization since the 2020/21 season and has earned his permanent spot in Salzburg's professional squad since the 2022/23 season. In November, Thaler scored three goals in six appearances and also set up two more goals, making him the best young crack in the league during that period.
In total, the two-time ICE champion has made 47 appearances so far this season, recording 12 goals and 11 assists, which means he has already had the best season of his young career. In the quarter-final against Linz, he scored twice and - after eight seconds - also scored the fastest goal in the play-off history of the ICE Hockey League and EC Red Bull Salzburg.

Procedure of the election
Five monthly winners were determined over the course of the season. Four players were nominated per month to take part in the voting. Due to only a few match days in September 2023, the first two months were combined into one election. The five monthly winners will now compete in the annual vote for the title of "Young Star of the 2023/24 season".
The vote consists of two components: In addition to the fan voting on the league homepage, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia also cast their votes. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.
