Red Bulls face HCB Südtirol Alperia in the semi-finalsPaul Stapelfeldt: "We're expecting a very tough series" // win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg will face HCB Südtirol Alperia in the playoff semi-finals of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The best-of-seven series kicks off with a home game on March 19 at Eisarena Salzburg (7:15 p.m., livestream). In the seventh and deciding quarter-final game today, HC Pustertal Wölfe won 4:1 in Székesfehérvár and thus decided the last remaining series 4:3 in their favor.
This means that this year's semi-final will be a rematch of last year's final series, in which the Red Bulls prevailed 2:1 in the seventh game in Bolzano and were crowned league champions for the eighth time. Both teams qualified for the semi-finals in five games in the quarter-finals - the Red Bulls against Linz and Bolzano against Villach - and therefore have the same number of games in their legs.

The Red Bulls will therefore have fond memories of their latest clash with the South Tyroleans, even if the previous final series was ultimately a wafer-thin decision. "It's going to be a very tough series. We know what we're up against. Last year's final series could hardly have been tighter. They are always very competitive and close games. And also highly emotional. But being able to start at home is a good omen for us, we've always performed well at home against Bolzano this season and we want to build on that on Tuesday."
