Game recap
Just eight seconds had elapsed when Lucas Thaler put the Red Bulls ahead with the fastest goal in club history and the fastest playoff goal in the league (the previous record holder, Raphael Herburger, scored after 11 seconds in Linz in 2019). After a mistake by goalkeeper Rasmus Tirronen behind the Linz goal, Benjamin Nissner passed the disc into the slot, where Lucas Thaler shot into the empty net. Linz responded promptly and Emilio Romig equalized less than two minutes later after a 2-on-1 counter-attack (2.). Salzburg then struck again (7th), Chay Genoway scored from distance in the first powerplay to make it 2:1. The game continued on an even keel, with the momentum changing almost by the second. Salzburg goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen was also on hand to save several deflected shots and the first highly dangerous Linz powerplay. After an intense first 20 minutes, the Red Bulls took the 2:1 lead into the dressing room.
It took just eight seconds after the break for Graham Knott to equalize again for Linz on a 2-on-1 (21st). Things then became more heated and the action on the ice more intense. But the Red Bulls went ahead again, Drake Rymsha scored from close range in the power play with a one-timer into the near corner (27'). The open exchange of blows continued. Drake Rymsha with a chance from the slot (31'), followed shortly afterwards by Linz's Raphael Wolf after a 2-on-1 counter-attack (32'). After that, Linz did more for the game and became a threat in front of goal for a few minutes, where Atte Tolvanen had his hands full. Only in the final phase did Salzburg play forward again and had another good chance with Nicolai Meyer in the half-high slot (39'). The Red Bulls still had a one-goal lead after 40 minutes.
In the final third, the home side immediately pressed for the goal, but the Red Bulls held their own. Peter Hochkofler had the next chance from full stretch in the slot (44'), but was still under pressure. However, the Linzers again stepped up their attacking game and forced Salzburg into defending for long stretches. Atte Tolvanen was also on hand to keep the Red Bulls' lead intact when the home side had some really good opportunities. After Emilio Romig's top chance (56'), who shot from a turn right in front of goal, a nerve-wracking final phase followed with a short-handed game and a minute of 5 vs. 6 field players. However, the Red Bulls stood close to the goal, didn't let anything in with relentless commitment and ultimately celebrated a narrow but hard-fought 3:2 away win.

Statement Drake Rymsha
"It was a great game from all the players. It's not easy to play in this house. Every single defender and forward stepped up. It was a dirty away win, but that's what you need in the playoffs."
