Luca Auer nominated for Young Star electionThe Oberndorfer played a strong February // Young Star-WahlFor the fifth and final time this season, the "Young Star of the Month" will be selected. Once again, four young players who made a name for themselves with strong performances in the ICE basic round in February are up for election. One of the nominees is our striker Luca Auer, who recorded two goals and three assists in February. Fan voting is open until Sunday, March 3.

At 19, Luca Auer is the youngest of the young cracks put forward for the February vote. The Salzburg native grew up in the Red Bulls' youth program, then went to the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy and is currently in the process of finally establishing himself in Salzburg's professional team.
The current 2023/24 season is the youngster's first full season in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In 43 appearances so far this season, the U20 national team player has scored ten points, seven more than last season. The center scored 5 of his 10 points in the last 6 games in February (2 goals, 3 assists).

Procedure of the election
First, five monthly winners are determined. For this purpose, four players per month are nominated to stand for election. Due to only a few match days in September 2023, the first two months were combined into one election. The five monthly winners will then compete for the title of "Young Star of the 2023/24 season" at the start of the playoffs.
The election consists of two components: in addition to the fan voting on the league website, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia also cast their votes. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.
