EC Red Bull Salzburg, who finished third in the basic round, had the third choice and opted for Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The quarterfinals kick off next Sunday, March 3, at the Eisarena Salzburg (5:30 p.m., Puls24).

With today's decision in the pre-playoff of the win2day Ice Hockey League - HC Pustertal Wölfe and BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg have secured the 7th and 8th starting spots - the playoff quarterfinal pairings were determined or selected in the subsequent pick. The Red Bulls opted for the Upper Austrians, against whom they won three out of four games in the 2023/24 basic round.
Previously, the EC-KAC, who won the first round, opted for the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg, while second-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV19 chose the HC Pustertal Wölfe. Fourth-placed HCB Südtirol Alperia were left with EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV as their quarter-final opponents.

"It won't be easy against Linz. We went into overtime with them three times, it's very difficult to play there, with their fans following them to Salzburg as well. It was a group decision that eventually went to the Upper Austrians. I'm expecting a lot of energy, high-level field hockey and I know we're ready as a team."

Playoff quarter-finals kick off with White Night
The Red Bulls are also looking forward to the support of the home fans at the start of the playoffs on March 3 in the Eisarena Salzburg, who are traditionally called upon to come to the first playoff game - White Night - dressed in white and thus express their support for the Red Bulls.
