Cameron Schilling
"I've heard nothing but good things about the Red Bulls organization and was happy to hear the request for a defender of my caliber. I'm a 2-way defenseman who can also get involved in the offense, but I always put defense first. My skating helps me with that, it's my greatest strength. I'm already used to the bigger ice surface from my time in Sweden and now I'm really looking forward to my first games with the Red Bulls. I want to help the team win the championship."
Oliver David, Head Coach
"He brings a lot of experience from the AHL and also played two years in Sweden. He's a defenseman who can help us especially in the defensive zone. He's big, has a good character and is a tough player who can be important for us in the championship. We are delighted to have a player of his caliber in the team."
Helmut Schlögl, Managing Director Pro
"We want to give the team more depth and stability in defense. For this reason, we have been looking for a good 2-way defenseman for some time. According to our research, Cameron fits our requirements profile very well, both personally and in terms of his style of play. We are therefore very happy that Cameron has decided to join us."
Cameron Schilling's career began with four seasons in the NCAA, in which he celebrated two titles with the University of Miami (Ohio) - 2010 Regular Season Champion, 2011 Champion. In the 2011-12 season, the tall defenseman moved to the AHL with the Hershey Bears, followed a year later by his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals. He then played for many years with various clubs in the AHL, making a total of 630 games. He also played ten NHL games with the Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets (2018/19).
In the middle of the 2021-22 season, Schilling got to know Europe for the first time and moved from the AHL from the Abbotsford Canucks to the Swedish top league SHL to Djurgårdens IF. After relegation, he narrowly missed out on promotion back to the SHL with the club in the second division HockeyAllsvenskan in the following 2022/23 season.
