The narrow defeat in Northern Ireland will be dealt with in more detail, but on the one hand there is still a mathematical mini chance to reach the CHL playoffs and on the other hand the Salzburgers want to tick this off and now need all the energy for the next tasks in the domestic league, which will not be easier.

The starting situation
The games against the Black Wings Linz have long had their own derby character, as it is also the shortest distance the Red Bulls have to travel in the domestic league. With Brian Lebler, Linz also has one of the league's best forwards, who became ICE champion with the Red Bulls - on loan for the playoffs - in the 2021/22 season. Just yesterday, the Upper Austrians won 2-0 in Ljubljana and have climbed to 6th place in the table with their form clearly on the rise recently. The opponent
At the moment, the perennial top scorer of the last few years, Brian Lebler, is being outpaced by Graham Knott in his own team. The 26-year-old Canadian was already Linz's second-best point scorer last (premiere) season and has scored nine times in nine games so far. But Brian Lebler has also scored four times so far. In addition, Shawn St-Amant and Matt MacKenzie are considered excellent preparers. Former Salzburg academy graduate Nico Feldner has also scored twice.
The Red Bulls have meanwhile largely shaken off the disappointment from the CHL defeat in Belfast and want to immediately build on the good performances from the last league games with home victories against Villach and Pustertal as well as in Ljubljana.
