The Situation
The decisive result of yesterday’s game against Rögle BK (0–5) does not come close to reflecting the Red Bulls' actual performance. They played a strong game against the Swedes for 40 minutes, created chances—not many, but high-quality ones—and conceded only a single goal during that period. It was only Rögle’s second goal in the 47th minute that caused the Salzburg defense—solid until then—to crumble.
Facing the Växjö Lakers, the Red Bulls are preparing for another top-level match in which they aim to maintain their disciplined team play right to the end. The Lakers, who were eliminated in the SHL semifinals by Rögle BK last season, suffered a narrow 1–2 home defeat against Tappara Tampere yesterday. Prior to that, the four-time Swedish champions lost 1–3 in Mannheim and secured their only CHL win so far with a 3–1 victory in Nitra, Slovakia.
Both teams currently have one win each after three games and are eager to pick up points to stay in the race for a playoff spot among the top 16 teams.

"Despite the loss, the Red Bulls deserve great credit for the way they played against Rögle yesterday. We felt good about the game until the Swedes capitalized on our mistakes in the final period. We need to keep going, continue working hard, and get the puck to the net more often. We have to find ways to increase the pressure on the goal."
The Red Bulls are traveling by bus from Ängelholm to Växjö today and will hold a practice session at the Vida Arena in the late afternoon before the real action begins on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
