Red Bulls Strengthen Defense with Young Canadian// Team updateEC Red Bull Salzburg has signed another defenseman for the upcoming season: Jayden Lee. The 25-year-old Canadian most recently played in the ECHL and AHL and is making his European debut.
Jayden Lee grew up in Canada and played two seasons in the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League). He then played five years, from 2019 to 2024, in the NCAA at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He celebrated several successes with the university team, winning four regular season championships (2021–2024) and the NCAA title in 2023. Lee was also selected to the All-Star Team twice and captained his team in the final NCAA season.
For the past two seasons, the defenseman played in the ECHL for the South Carolina Stingrays (2024/25) and Kalamazoo Wings (2025/26), supplementing his stint with three AHL games for the Abbotsford Canucks. In 119 ECHL games, Lee recorded 16 goals and 49 assists. The Red Bulls are Lee's first team in Europe.
Statement by Jayden Lee
“When I heard about the Red Bulls’ interest, the decision was easy for me. A club with such a high reputation and championship ambitions is incredibly appealing. I’m very excited about the move to Salzburg and think I’ll mature both as a person and as a hockey player. I want to compete for the championship with the Red Bulls and I’m also looking forward to the CHL. My goal is to help the team in every game and utilize my strengths. I’m a good skater and a tough defenseman who likes to get involved in the attack and drive the offense.”
Statement by Alan Letang, Head Coach of EC Red Bull Salzburg
“Jayden Lee brings a high-end competitive motor and elite hockey sense to the Salzburg blueline. His ability to read the game, make intelligent plays under pressure, and outwork opponents makes him a massive asset.”
Lee is expected in Salzburg at the end of July.
