Assistant Coach Jason Morgan
Jason Morgan's coaching career began eleven years ago in the youth program of the Hungarian club Debrecen-Miskolce as head coach of the U18 team in the Erste Bank Juniors League. In the same season, he took on his first head coaching position in the Hungarian MOL Liga. This was followed by further coaching stints in the MOL and Erste Liga, as well as in the top leagues of Poland, Romania, and Denmark. From 2021, he coached the Heilbronn Falcons in the DEL2, and two years later, he also coached the Glasgow Clan in the EIHL. For the past two seasons, Morgan has been coaching the Hungarian Erste Liga club UTE Budapest. His achievements as a head coach include one championship title in Hungary and two in Romania.
Alan Letang, Head Coach of EC Red Bull Salzburg
“We are very pleased to welcome Jason Morgan as an assistant coach to our coaching staff. Jason brings an impressive hockey career: 18 seasons as a professional player and 11 years of experience as a head coach. He is a passionate and tireless worker who excels at developing players at every stage of their careers. Furthermore, his attention to detail in face-offs will be a clear asset to our centers during preseason.”
During his playing career, the former forward played 44 games for four different NHL teams. He also played 614 games in the AHL. Morgan has also made his mark in Europe. In addition to playing in Norway for Stjernen Hockey (45 games) and 59 games with Södertälje SK in the SHL, the forward also played 28 games for EC-KAC in the 2009/10 season.
The coaching staff is now complete
With the addition of Assistant Coach Jason Morgan, the coaching staff, which includes Head Coach Alan Letang, Assistant Coach Adam Maglio, and Goalie Coach Markus Kerschbaumer, is now complete. Daniel Petersson will take on a new role. The 44-year-old Swede, who spent the last six years as an Assistant Coach with the professional team and previously worked for more than seven years at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy, will assume the newly created position of Player Development Coach. This role will serve as the link between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the Red Bulls professional team in the development program. Depending on the needs of the young players, he will work with them at either the Salzburg Ice Arena or the Academy.
Helmut Schlögl, Managing Director Pro, on Daniel Petersson's responsibilities
"Daniel Petersson is taking on an important role as Player Development Coach for the Red Bulls. Having spent 13 of his 18 coaching years with us – including the last six as an assistant coach – Daniel perfectly embodies the Red Bull culture. The close relationships he has built with the players in our academy make him the ideal person to nurture our young, ambitious talents."
