Benjamin Nissner's contract extension | Three players leave the club
A visionary and scoring-scoring machine
When Benjamin Nissner arrived in Salzburg in 2021, he immediately delivered the best season of his career to date. His qualities as a center forward, who uses excellent vision and finesse to set up his linemates, quickly made him an indispensable key player for the Red Bulls. He delivers this level of performance year after year, distinguishing himself not only as a brilliant playmaker but also as a prolific goal scorer. In 533 league games for Salzburg, Nissner has amassed 122 goals and 192 assists, playing a major role in the Red Bulls' last four win2day ICE Hockey League titles.
The experience of the 28-year-old Vienna native is also valued by the Austrian national team. Nissner has already scored three goals in the current World Championship preparation – just five days ago he netted a brace in the 3-2 home win against Italy – and is now eagerly anticipating his fourth World Championship starting in mid-May in Switzerland.
Three players leave the Red Bulls
In planning their roster for the 2026/27 season, the Red Bulls did not offer new contracts to defensemen Connor Corcoran, Devante Stephens, and Cole Krygier, all of whom joined Salzburg last season.
The 25-year-old Connor Corcoran (CAN) tallied 11 goals and 19 assists in 51 games (including playoffs). Devante Stephens (CAN, 29 years old) contributed 5 goals and 11 assists in 47 games. Defenseman Cole Krygier (CAN, 25 years old) joined Salzburg at the beginning of February and has only played 8 games (1 goal, 2 assists).
The Red Bulls thank all players for their commitment and performances last season and wish them all the best for their future, both professionally and personally.
