Game summary
The Cavaliers got off to a better start and quickly pushed the game into the Juniors' defensive zone. After the home team had their first chances and the Red Bulls were down a man, Johan Eriksson scored on a solo effort in the 12th minute to make it 1-0. The Juniors sought an immediate response but initially found no way through the compact South Tyrolean defense. Shortly before the end of the period, the Red Bulls earned their first power play, but the score remained 0-1.
The Juniors came out of the break with a numerical advantage and tested Tizian Giovanelli. Back in five-on-five play, an open exchange of blows ensued before Alex Egger broke through alone in the 26th minute after a pass from Marek Potsinok and made it 2-0. The Red Bulls subsequently created several power play situations and had significantly more possession, but were unlucky in front of goal. Unterland defended disciplined and created another dangerous chance shortly before the siren, with Juniors goalkeeper Luca Haitzmann preventing a possible shorthanded goal at the last second.
The Red Bulls immediately pressed for the equalizer in the final period. In the 42nd minute, Niklas Korhonen scored to make it 1-2 after an offensive face-off. Spurred on by the goal, Salzburg increased the pressure, and Korhonen deflected a shot from Paul Oberhauser to make it 2-2 in the 49th minute. The game became more intense, with both teams looking for the next goal. In the 58th minute, Korhonen completed a 2-on-1 counterattack after a pass from Oberhauser to make it 3-2 and complete his hat trick. However, Unterland responded immediately and equalized in the 59th minute through Artur Seniut to make it 3-3. This secured the decisive point for the Juniors to finish first in the regular season. In overtime, Erik Potsinok scored after 16 seconds (61st) on the power play to give the Cavaliers a 4-3 home win. The Juniors enter the Master Round, which starts on Thursday, February 5, 2026, as the winners of the regular season; the exact matchups will be finalized by February 2, 2026.

"I'm very happy that we won the regular season, but we didn't perform well today. We weren't ready to play and didn't execute our game plan. The player who saved us today was Niklas Korhonen. He made a strong comeback after a very long injury break and rewarded himself with a hat trick in his second game. The matches in the Master Round and the Austrian Championship final will be tough. We are now preparing for that, and we have to be ready."
