Game summary The penultimate game of the regular season began with a physical battle. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors got off to a good start and set the tone early on, but Bregenzerwald scored first against the run of play: in the 4th minute, Roberts Lipsbergs deflected a shot from Josef Flick past Juniors goalkeeper Luca Haitzmann. The Red Bulls immediately pushed for the equalizer, but were initially thwarted by the strong Lorenz Widhalm. The Juniors defended consistently during the ensuing power play. Maxim Eliseev equalized to make it 1-1 in the 11th minute. Both teams created chances before Lukas Greil converted Nick Maul's pass to give his side the lead for the first time in the 16th minute. A late penalty put the home side under pressure once again, but the period ended 2-1.
The second period saw an evenly matched duel develop. As time went on, the Juniors took more control, but repeatedly found their match in Widhalm. In the 30th minute, Adrian Gesson increased the score to 3-1 after sustained pressure. Just 27 seconds later, Bernhard Posch made it 3-2. The Red Bulls responded with powerful changes, while the visitors waited for counterattacks with high passes. Another penalty briefly slowed the Juniors down, but they defended strongly. With the Vorarlberg team shorthanded, Nick Maul regained possession of the puck in the offensive zone in the 35th minute and scored to make it 4-2. Towards the end of the period, the ECB increased the pressure, but Haitzmann kept the lead with some strong saves.
The Red Bulls started the final period with a power play. In the 43rd minute, 17-year-old Lukas Greil made it 5-2, completing his second double in the current AlpsHL season. Statement Niklas Korhonen
"It was a great win for us today and three important points. We are one step closer to our goal of winning the regular season. I've been injured since the start of the season and made my comeback today. It felt great to score. Our team is like a big family, which made it very easy for me to come back. Today we were able to use our speed and played hard for 60 minutes. That's what gave us the win."
