Highlights EC-KAC vs. Red Bulls
Game Summary
In the top-of-the-table clash against KAC, the Red Bulls had to manage without the recovering Dennis Robertson, Florian Baltram, and Peter Hochkofler, as well as the suspended Tyler Lewington. However, Ali Wukovits made his comeback on the ice hockey stage, playing his first game of the season today. For 19-year-old Salzburg native Fabian Baumann from the Red Bull Hockey Juniors team, it was his debut in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
The start was promising. Philipp Wimmer fired a shot from the left face-off circle and scored his first goal of the season in the first minute, giving his team an early lead. The game immediately picked up pace, and the home team turned the game around with two quick goals. Matt Fraser scored on the power play with a well-placed shot from mid-range into the top corner (7th minute), and Nick Petersen added another goal less than 30 seconds later after a nice passing play (8th minute). It took just seven seconds for Salzburg's Brandon Coe to respond, firing the puck into the top corner on the run (8th minute). Less than eight minutes in, both goalies, Salzburg's Atte Tolvanen and Klagenfurt's Sebastian Dahm, had already made two saves. Klagenfurt was dangerous on the power play, but it was Peter Schneider who, in the final minute of the first period, fired a powerful shot from the left face-off circle to give Salzburg a 3-2 lead at the intermission.
The intensity increased further in the second period, with both teams creating good scoring chances. Initially, the home team was more dominant. Simeon Schwinger broke away on a breakaway but was pressured, and Atte Tolvanen made the save (26th minute). Then the momentum shifted, and the Red Bulls gained the upper hand. Devante Stephens' good attempt from the left face-off circle wasn't placed well enough (29th minute), but there was no stopping Nash Nienhuis' shot from the same spot – the defenseman's first goal of the season (36th minute). Klagenfurt's defense continued to struggle, with Troy Bourke narrowly missing a rebound opportunity right in front of the net (38th minute). After a subsequent minute and a half of penalty killing, the Red Bulls took a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.
The pace remained high in the final period, but the Red Bulls played with composure on defense and initially allowed few scoring chances, while also being slightly more dangerous offensively than the home team. However, KAC fought their way back into the game, and Fabian Hochegger scored on the rebound to make it 4-3 (52nd minute). From then on, the game belonged to the home team, who shot from all angles in the offensive zone and demanded everything from the Red Bulls' defense. But they gave it their all and didn't allow another goal, celebrating a 4-3 away win against league leaders KAC to conclude their road trip.

Statement by Manny Viveiros
"It's really not easy to play in Klagenfurt. I'm proud of the players and how they performed as a unit today. From defense to offense, everyone put in a strong performance. Even after the quick lead change, we didn't panic and then allowed very few good scoring opportunities for a long time. The strong defense was ultimately the deciding factor in the victory."
