Red Bulls vs. Moser Medical Graz99ers
Background
Seventh place versus fourth place – that's the current matchup between the Red Bulls and the Graz99ers. However, only five points separate the two teams, reflecting just how tight the competition is in the top half of the table.
The Red Bulls are looking to avenge their first loss against Graz and are currently on the upswing. Including their CHL game against Ingolstadt, Head Coach Manny Viveiros' team has won their last four games, thus stabilizing their form. In their last game on Sunday in Klagenfurt, the Red Bulls also demonstrated their fighting spirit, twice overcoming a two-goal deficit to ultimately win in overtime.
The Graz99ers are also enjoying a good run. In their last six rounds, they have only suffered one defeat – a 1-2 loss last Friday in Székesfehérvár. On Sunday, they once again demonstrated their current strong performance, sending HCB Südtirol Alperia home with a 6-3 defeat.
Graz with new coach
Last week, the Graz99ers introduced Daniel Lacroix as their new head coach. The 56-year-old Canadian replaces Sports Director Philipp Pinter, who had been coaching the team on an interim basis following the departure of Harry Lange. Lacroix was scheduled to make his ICE Hockey League debut with the Graz team in Salzburg. For defenseman Paul Stapelfeldt, however, it marks his first return to his old stomping grounds, as the 27-year-old Salzburg native grew up with the Red Bulls and only moved to Graz this summer.

Statement by Lucas Thaler
"The recent series of wins has done us good; we're feeling really good again. But Graz has a deep roster and a solid defense. Defense will be crucial for us as well. If it comes down to a close game, we'll have to make sure we minimize their chances. We're looking forward to a packed arena and the support of the fans, and we want to win this time."
