Game report
The clash between first and second place began intensely and physically. Sisak broke free early on, and Karlo Marinkovic finished alone in front of Valentin Ankirchner to make it 1-0 (4th minute). The Juniors responded quickly: Vadim Schreiner finished a counterattack after a pass from Maximilian Wurzer to make it 1-1 (9th minute), and shortly afterwards Paul Oberhauser converted a rebound from Benedikt Krainer to give his team a 2-1 lead (10th minute). The Croatians remained dangerous with their tall, lurking striker and came through again on their own: Vito Idzan equalized (12th minute). Shortly before the break, Sisak broke free again and Kim Yeob scored to make it 3-2 (20th minute).
Both teams continued their fast pace in the second period. Nick Maul found himself in front of goalie Vilim Rosandic and placed the puck under the crossbar to make it 3-3 (24th minute). Immediately afterwards, Ankirchner made a strong save against Danila Larionov in a one-on-one situation (25th minute), but shortly afterwards Nikolas Malenica took advantage of a quick transition to make it 4-3 (26th). In a rougher phase, Sisak increased their lead to 5-3 (36th) on the power play through Marinkovic. The Juniors fought back: Jesse Juhola converted Maxim Eliseev's pass to make it 5-4 (37th).
At the start of the final period, Kim Yeob scored with a quick finish to make it 6-4 (43rd minute). Sisak defended compactly in the following minutes, making pinprick attacks and forcing Salzburg to shoot from unfavorable positions. The Juniors pushed hard until the final minute, pulling their goalie for an extra field player, but were unable to make a decisive breakthrough. After six wins in a row, their winning streak has come to an end, but the Red Bull Hockey Juniors remain at the top of the table for now.

Head Coach Teemu Levijoki
“Conceding six goals in an away game is too many. Three of those goals were breakaways and two were on the power play. We knew from the outset that they would be looking for the high guy, and we weren't there. We didn't do our homework today.”
