Alps Hockey League | Regular Season | RBJ vs KEC
After a scoreless first period, Mathias Böhm put the Juniors ahead in the second. In a defensive game, space was tight; it was only a goal into an empty net (59th) by 16-year-old Nico Koschek that made it 2-0. Kitzbühel pulled one back in the final minute to make it 2-1, but the Juniors didn't allow any more.

Game report
The Juniors started strongly and put Kitzbühel under pressure early on. Several good chances went unused at first. As the game progressed, the Eagles became more active, but Salzburg kept them largely at bay and forced them to shoot from distance. A first power play gave the home team additional momentum, with Adrian Gesson narrowly missing the goal (13th minute). In the final minutes of the opening period, the Tyroleans tested Luca Haitzmann several times with heavy traffic in front of the goal – including on the power play – but Salzburg defended compactly and remained dangerous on quick counterattacks.
The middle period began evenly. Gradually, the Juniors shifted the game into the attacking third, rotating a lot and looking for the first goal. Both teams waited for mistakes, and a game with many changes of direction developed. In the 36th minute, Salzburg struck: Mathias Böhm converted Paul Oberhauser's pass to make it 1-0. Spurred on by the lead, the Juniors created further chances, but Thomas McCollum in the Kitzbühel goal made some strong saves.
In the final period, the Red Bulls picked up the pace and created further chances early on. A power play failed to yield any results, while at the other end, Haitzmann made some confident saves during Kitzbühel's power play (49th minute). In the last two minutes of the game, the visitors threw everything at their opponents and replaced their goalkeeper with an additional field player. Nico Koschek scored into an empty net in the 59th minute after passes from Moussa Hackert and Luca Kogler to make it 2-0. Kitzbühel pulled their goalie again and reduced the deficit to 2-1 through Henrik Hochfilzer (60th), but the Juniors held on to their lead until the final buzzer.

Forward Nico Koschek
“It was a good team performance. Kitzbühel was strong, but we brought our game to the ice. Against an opponent like that, you don't have much time in the offensive zone, so you have to take advantage of your chances – and we did that. It's a lot of fun to play on this team; my teammates help me a lot, and I'm grateful for that.”
