Game report The Red Bull Hockey Juniors made their mark early on when Benedikt Krainer scored from a tight angle (1st minute). Shortly afterwards, the home side tested Valentin Ankirchner in the Juniors' goal. The pressure then alternated between the two sides. Justus Kaufmann hit the post in the 6th minute, before Adam Brady broke through on his own after a long pass from Dmitry Vozovik and scored to make it 1-0 for Gröden (9th minute). The hosts became more active and sought to finish from all positions. Five minutes before the break, an attempt by Hannes Kasslatter landed on the goal line, but Paul Lemke cleared at the last second. The Juniors failed to capitalize on a later power play.
The second period started evenly. In the 23rd minute, Gröden took advantage of a 2-on-1 situation: Davide Schiavone opted to shoot and made it 2-0. Shortly afterwards, Salzburg found themselves shorthanded – Schiavone scored on the power play after passes from Matteo Luisetti and Stephan Deluca to make it 3-0 (25th minute). The Red Bulls continued to fight, consistently looking for the finish, but repeatedly failed to get past Matthias Rindone. Val Gardena, for its part, remained dangerous with quick transitions and controlled the game.
In the final period, the Juniors pushed for the first goal from the first change and got an early power play, but the home team defended aggressively. In the 44th minute, 16-year-old Nico Koschek broke through the defense and reduced the deficit to 1-3. The Red Bulls subsequently earned further power play opportunities, but were unable to add to their tally. With both teams at full strength, an open exchange of blows developed with puck losses on both sides and quick counterattacks. Several times, the puck was almost on the line from Salzburg's point of view, but it did not find its way past Rindone. In the last minute of the game, the Juniors tried to score with a sixth field player during their own power play. Despite 6-on-4, the final score remained 1-3.

Head Coach Teemu Levijoki
“Val Gardena played very well today and we didn't. We couldn't get our game going, lost too many battles and didn't take advantage of our chances. Their goalie was very strong and they had the momentum on their side. Our performance wasn't enough today.”
