After the visitors took a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Red Bulls struggled to create any good chances, while the South Tyroleans played very efficiently and capitalized on their opportunities. Salzburg's only goal came from Benjamin Nissner in the closing stages, which meant that the strong Bolzano goalkeeper conceded at least his first goal of the season.

Highlights Red Bulls vs. HCB Südtirol Alperia
Game recap
Bolzano applied a lot of pressure at the start, and Atte Tolvanen in the Salzburg goal quickly warmed up. Benjamin Nissner provided the first good test on the other side from the slot (4th minute), but Mathias Böhm also couldn't get past Bolzano's goalkeeper Gianluca Vallini on a good solo run under pressure (7th minute). Bolzano's Brett Pollock, on the other hand, took advantage of his solo run from the neutral zone and fired the visitors into the lead with a lob under the crossbar (10th minute). After that, the game picked up pace, and the Red Bulls increasingly threatened in the offensive zone. Peter Schneider tried a good one-timer from the slot (17th minute). Then Atte Tolvanen thwarted Matt Bradley's solo run (18th minute), followed by another chance from Lucas Thaler (19th minute). After a turbulent final phase, the visitors led 1-0 after 20 minutes.
After the break, the Red Bulls initially took control and besieged the opposing goal. But the South Tyroleans soon opened up the game, with back-and-forths and clear chances still to come. Despite much ineffective back-and-forth in the neutral zone, Salzburg had more possession and regularly played well in front of goal. However, the visitors struck again on a counterattack, with Cole Schneider scoring from close range (31'). The Red Bulls continued to play for the opening goal, but their attacking efforts were repeatedly disrupted. The Red Bulls lacked ease, even on their first power play, they only had a few dangerous shots. After 40 minutes, the score was 0-2 from Salzburg's perspective.
The game began with a lot of pace in the final period. Lukas Schreier had a free shot in the slot but shot over the bar (44'). The Red Bulls were almost impossible to separate from the puck during this period, but were abruptly stopped by a shorthanded game. The visitors promptly took advantage, putting the visitors three goals up after a Max Gildon goal from mid-range (47th minute). From then on, things only went one way, as the Red Bulls also increased their shooting frequency. In the 57th minute, Bryce Misley finally sealed the 4-0 lead with an empty-net goal, although Benjamin Nissner also managed a consolation goal (58th minute), beating Bolzano's goalie Gianluca Vallini for the first time this season. The Red Bulls thus lost 4-1 at home, while Bolzano equalized at 1-1 in the head-to-head clash.

Statement by Mario Huber
"I don't think it was a bad game from us. We just made a few small mistakes in the first period, which continued throughout the game. They took advantage of their scoring opportunities, but we couldn't get the puck in front of them. That was the difference today."
