With the tall striker Brandon Coe, the Red Bulls are acquiring a striker who will strengthen Salzburg's offense, which is still limited by numerous injuries. Coe was drafted by the NHL club San Jose Sharks in 2020 and, coming from the OHL, played the 2020/21 season in the AHL for the San Jose Barracudas. He then played another OHL season with the North Bay Battalion before playing for the San Jose Sharks' farm team for three consecutive years starting in 2022. He has totaled 21 goals and 28 assists in 164 AHL games so far. Coe was also called up to Team Canada at last year's prestigious Spengler Cup and played three games in Davos.
Statement Manny Viveiros, Head Coach EC Red Bull Salzburg
"Brandon is a talented young hockey player and an excellent skater who can use his body well. That's exactly what the Red Bulls are all about. We're very excited to welcome him to our team."
Statement Brandon Coe
"I played in Europe for the first time last year at the Spengler Cup, and that definitely piqued my interest in European ice hockey. When I started to get interested again, my agent and I quickly discovered the Red Bulls. I see myself as a trained power forward and can use my size and speed to my advantage. The Red Bulls are a strong team that has dominated the league in recent years, and I want to help Salzburg continue on that path and have another successful season."
One point of contact with the Red Bulls is Connor Corcoran, whom Coe has already played against in the AHL and OHL. The two also know each other from some skating sessions together this summer. Brandon Coe has already arrived in Salzburg and will wear the number 44 for the Red Bulls.
