Good atmosphere at the Red Bulls Salute welcome event Teams and partners refused to let the rain dampen their spirits// Red Bulls Salute The international invitational tournament Red Bulls Salute was traditionally kicked off with a welcome event. Teams, partners, and journalists gathered at Kaprun Castle in a medieval setting for dinner and to exchange ideas. In pouring rain, but equipped with plenty of umbrellas, players and coaches from the four participants in Red Bulls Salute 2025 from Ängelholm, Zug, Munich, and Salzburg met at Kaprun Castle just outside Zell am See, where the tournament will take place starting Friday. In high spirits, they dined in the large knights' hall and enjoyed lively conversation. After all, many of the players and coaches have crossed paths before in the big yet small world of hockey.
While the Red Bulls from Salzburg and Munich have already participated in this top international tournament 16 and 9 times respectively as hosts, this is the tournament debut for the Swedes from Ängelholm. EV Zug is looking forward to its second participation after 2022 in Kitzbühel (3rd place). The two Red Bull clubs from Salzburg and Munich are the only participants to have won the tournament twice in its 17-year history (with a four-year break).

Salzburg forward Lukas Schreier
"I've been here many times before, but it's always a cool tournament. There are always great opponents here and we hope to reach the final this year. The dream scenario would of course be to play Red Bull Munich in the final. But today we enjoyed the great atmosphere at Kaprun Castle and saw many familiar faces. It's always a nice opportunity to renew old friendships."
Salzburg kicks off against Zug
The Red Bulls Salute 2025 will open tomorrow, Friday, with the semifinal game between EC Red Bull Salzburg and EV Zug (4:00 p.m.). This will be followed by the second semifinal match between EHC Red Bull Munich and the 2022 CHL champion, Rögle BK (7:30 p.m.).
In addition to Ali Wukovits, who is out with a long-term injury, the Red Bulls will also be without Mario Huber, who was hit in the face by a puck during training yesterday and will be out for several weeks. Peter Hochkofler (upper body problems) will also have to sit out tomorrow.
