After a commanding first place in the basic round, the Academy's youngest team went one better in the play-offs and crowned themselves deserved champions.
In the round of 16, the team gave HCM Warriors Brno no chance with a clear 2:0 series win (7:1 and 9:1). The Red Bulls also showed their fighting spirit in the quarter-final against HC Škoda Plzeň: After a narrow opening defeat (4:5), they turned the series around with two convincing victories (6:4 and 4:1) and advanced to the semi-finals.
Mountfield HK awaited them there - but the team also overcame this hurdle brilliantly. A 3:2 victory in the penalty shoot-out and a 3:2 win in the second leg meant they reached the final. In the final against HC Kometa Brno, the team was once again in top form and clearly won the best-of-five series with three consecutive victories (5:3, 5:2, 5:2).
Winning the title is not only a milestone for the young talents, but also a historic success: for the first time since entering the Czech league, the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy U16s have secured the championship title.
