Philipp Krening nominated for Young Star award// ICE Young Star-Wahl des MonatsThe “Young Star of the Month” has been selected for the third time this season. Four young players who drew attention to themselves with strong performances in December are up for election. Philipp Krening is in the running for the Red Bulls this time.Fan voting is open until Tuesday, January 7, at 10:00 pm. In addition, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia will once again be casting their votes.

The 20-year-old Philipp Krening is currently playing his first 'real' season with the professionals of EC Red Bull Salzburg, but already made his debut with the Red Bulls two years ago. So far, the German has scored eight points in 26 appearances. The striker proved his qualities in December in particular, scoring six of his eight points that month. He not only scored his first two goals in the win2day ICE Hockey League, but also contributed four assists. In a total of ten appearances in December, Krening also impressed with a plus-minus rating of +3.

Voting procedure
First, five monthly winners are determined. Four players per month will be nominated to stand for election. Due to only a few match days in September 2024, the first two months were combined into one election. The five monthly winners will then compete for the title of “Young Star of the 2024/25 season” at the start of the playoffs.
The election consists of two components: in addition to the fan voting on the league website, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia also cast their votes. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.
