Game report
The Juniors got off to a lightning-fast start in the first period: Leon Kolarik scored after just 33 seconds (1st) to take an early 1:0 lead after a pass from Paul Vinzens. However, Bregenzerwald responded promptly and became much more active, but initially slowed themselves down with a penalty. However, the young Salzburg team were unable to take advantage of the resulting superior numbers and shortly afterwards had to play shorthanded themselves. The home side made the most of their powerplay opportunity and Fabian Ranftl equalized in the 7th minute to make it 1:1. Just a few minutes later (11th), Bregenzerwald had another overtime spell and David König turned the game in the Vorarlbergers' favour with his goal to make it 2:1. The Red Bulls fought their way back: In the 16th minute, Luca Kogler equalized to 2:2 after preparatory work by Daniel Assavolyuk.
Salzburg started the second period with a double superiority, but were unable to capitalize on it. An open exchange of blows developed, with both teams looking for the lead again. The game became increasingly physical and the Juniors once again had to play short-handed. Fabian Ranftl scored in the 36th minute to make it 3:2 for EC Bregenzerwald.
The home side started the final period much more actively, while the Juniors had difficulties freeing themselves from their own third. Salzburg fought their way back into the game, but Laurin Wempe extended Bregenzerwald's lead to 4:2 in the 57th minute. A penalty in the final minute of the game allowed Gustav Jansson to score in overtime to make the final score 5:2 (60').

Head Coach Teemu Levijoki
“Scoring four goals while shorthanded is too much. In the game at full strength, we were able to hold our own, but we definitely gave them too many chances to score. They capitalized on those chances. Unfortunately, it wasn't our best day today. We have to put the game behind us, because we've already got another game on Thursday.”
