Final rematch in Klagenfurt at the start of the win2day ICE Hockey League Forward Niki Kraus to face his former club for the first time // win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg will kick off the first round of the win2day ICE Hockey League 2024/25 tomorrow, Friday, at EC-KAC in Klagenfurt (7:30 p.m., Puls 24).The first game will therefore be a rematch of last year's final series, which the Red Bulls won in the seventh game in Klagenfurt to secure their third championship title in a row.

The starting position
Both the Red Bulls and Klagenfurt have already played their first important games of the season in the CHL. The KAC won its first away game against the Rouen Dragons (FRA) 4:2, but then lost in Sweden at Färjestad Karlstad and at home against Fribourg-Gottéron (SUI) and Unia Oświęcim (POL).
The Red Bulls, on the other hand, only lost their first home game against Swedish champions Skellefteå AIK, then beat Danish champions SønderjyskE Vojens at home and also came back from their most recent away trip last weekend with victories against Unia Oświęcim and the ZSC Lions, both current national champions.
In terms of personnel, Klagenfurt have to cope with the departures of Lukas Haudum, Paul Postma, Manuel Ganahl and Niki Kraus, among others. Mathias From (NOR) from the Herning Blue Fox and Senna Peeters (AUT/BEL) from Innsbruck and Nick Pastujov (USA/RUS) from Feldkirch have joined the team this summer from the ICE Hockey League.

Niki Kraus ahead of first game against his former club
Niki Kraus travels to the Red Bulls' first duel against the KAC with a different set of omens. The 27-year-old forward 'relocated' from Klagenfurt to Salzburg in the summer and is now playing with the Red Bulls against the Carinthian ice hockey club for the first time after nine years with the KAC. In last Friday's CHL game in Poland, Kraus scored his first goal in a Salzburg jersey with an overtime goal. Last season with the KAC, he scored 11 goals and 16 assists in 58 league games.

“We had a good preparation with many difficult games, many of which we were able to win - like last weekend in the CHL. That's why I think we'll get the home season off to a good start on Friday. It will be important that we simply deliver a good game. I don't really know what to expect personally in Klagenfurt, but I don't want to think about it. It will certainly be difficult in Klagenfurt and similar to the last finals, but if we can impose our game on them, I'm confident that we'll win.”
