Austria with nine Red Bulls at the World Championship in Prague Salzburg defender Paul Stapelfeldt one of four World Championship debutants // IIHF World ChampionshipThe Ice Hockey World Championship of the 16 best teams begins on Friday in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic. After a two-year break due to coronavirus, this will be Austria's fifth World Championship in a row in the top division. When Team Austria faces Denmark on Saturday in Prague in the World Championship opener, the Red Bulls will once again make up the majority of the national team with nine players - David Kickert, Paul Huber (even though he will no longer be playing for Salzburg from next season), Mario Huber, Benjamin Nissner, Thomas Raffl, Peter Schneider, Lucas Thaler, Ali Wukovits and Paul Stapelfeldt.
Paul Stapelfeldt is particularly looking forward to the tournament, as it is the first world championship for the 25-year-old Salzburg defender, who will also be making his debut on the big international ice hockey stage with three other Austrians from Saturday.

“I was delighted to be called up. It's a great honor to play for Austria at such a big tournament and I'm over the moon to get the chance to be there. I want to do my bit and help the team stay in the top flight with a good defensive performance. And that mission starts on Saturday against Denmark.”
