New Year's game in Graz The Red Bulls wish you all a Happy New Year// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg starts the new year on January 1, 2024 with an away game in the win2day ICE Hockey League against the Moser Medical Graz99ers (17:30, livestream). After yesterday's 5:2 home win against Bolzano with a very compact performance, the Red Bulls want to keep up this performance in Graz and secure their third win of the season against the Styrians.
The starting position
It was certainly one of the best games of the current season that the Red Bulls showed yesterday at home against Bolzano. With a compact game, combinations, willingness to run and a strong defense, the Salzburgers gave the Italians a run for their money and were rewarded with five goals. They thus continued the upward trend they had started two days earlier in their overtime win against Ljubljana. They want to continue in this vein. Knowing full well that this commitment and a cohesive team performance are also needed against bottom-of-the-table Graz if they want to win there.
The realization is by no means new, but more relevant than ever: anyone can beat anyone in the win2day ICE Hockey League. This also applies to the Graz99ers, who have been bottom of the table for quite some time and yet have always managed to win or only narrowly defeat top teams. The Red Bulls have also had this experience twice in the current basic round. They won the home game in mid-September 4:3 after extra time and at the end of October in Graz they struggled to a narrow 2:1 victory against the Styrians.
And what could be more of a warning than yesterday's result, as the Graz99ers won 4:1 at fourth-placed Linz. The outstanding man in Styria is Anthony Salinitri, the 25-year-old striker with dual Canadian-Italian citizenship already has 14 goals to his name, making him the fifth-best league goalscorer together with Salzburg's Peter Schneider and three more league forwards.
