Red Bulls at home in top game against Villach Student Hockey Night with attractive discounts// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg will play on Friday the home game of the win2day ICE Hockey League against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV (19:15, Livestream).The first meeting of the season between the two teams on Friday is also the top duel between the second-placed team from Salzburg and the third-placed team from Villach. Students, pupils and apprentices receive standing room tickets with 50% (!) discount at the Student Hockey Night.
The starting position
Similar to the KAC, Salzburg's duels with Villach have a long history, as the Red Bulls lost their first league final against VSV in 2006 and won the first championship title in the club's history against the same opponent one year later. The first duel of the current basic round is also eagerly awaited, especially since VSV has had a similarly good start to the season as the Red Bulls.
And that means concretely: Both teams hold after 5 games with 4 victories and a defeat with 12 points each. Only in terms of goal difference, the Red Bulls are 2 points better and therefore ranked ahead of the Carinthians in 2nd place in the table. The gap to table leader HC Pustertal Wölfe is 2 points.
The opponent
At VSV, the same faces as last season are responsible for goals and points. First and foremost Anthony Luciani and Robert Sabolic with 3 goals each so far, plus former Salzburg strikers Alexander Rauchenwald and John Hughes. Maximilian Rebernig, who was trained in the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy, also already has 2 goals, as does veteran Alex Wall, who previously played 5 years in Vienna. And in goal, 39-year-old veteran Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, who was also once a champion with Salzburg, continues to show that he is far from being old news.
Villach thus has a balanced squad in which all four lines can score. The team is coached by 65-year-old Rob Daum, who is already in his 5th season with VSV and who also gained league experience in 6 years with Linz before that and celebrated his only championship title.

"We are expecting a very strong opponent. Very offensive, compact and good individual players. For us, it's definitely a matter of taking fewer penalties than last time, otherwise it will be very difficult against Villach. We have good penalty killing, but it still gets you out of the flow of the game every time and we definitely have to turn that off. We will need our best game."
