When too many strikers dropped out in the meantime, Lukas Schreier was sent forward and got the hang of it after a few attempts. Now he is finally becoming a striker. Permanent position changes are nothing unusual in ice hockey, but they are still rather rare. Those who have been following the Red Bulls for a while will remember: under head coach Pierre Pagé (2007 to 2013), forwards Matthias Trattnig and Dominique Heinrich became defensemen and successfully implemented their new role for many years. Now Lukas Schreier is also reorienting himself and can concentrate on scoring goals from now on.
“It was a new situation for me because I've always played as a defender from a young age. But I immediately felt comfortable there, even though it's a completely different game.” In the summer interview, the 24-year-old tells us more and explains why the new position suits him well.
In just ten days, the Red Bulls will play their first test match against EV Zug in Zell am See, where Lukas Schreier will officially start his new career as a striker. One week later, from August 16-17, fans and players can look forward to the first highlight before the new season with the Red Bulls Salute in Zell am See.
