Milano Hockey Club
Alongside HCB Südtirol Alperia and HC Falkensteiner Pustertal, the win2day ICE Hockey League has been enriched this season by a third Italian club. Despite its deep historical roots, Milano HC was essentially built from scratch over the summer—and the fashion capital clearly made the right moves, as the club has delivered an impeccable performance so far. After six games, Milan sits in second place in the standings, having just defeated the league leaders—KAC, with whom they were previously tied on points—4–2 in Klagenfurt this past Wednesday.

History
Milan has played a pivotal role in the history of Italian ice hockey. Since the founding of the original "Hockey Club Milano" in 1924, generations of clubs, players, and fans have helped shape one of the country's richest ice hockey traditions. The "Palazzo del Ghiaccio," the "Forum," and the "Agorà" became legendary venues where unforgettable moments unfolded and a deep passion for the sport was passed down from one generation to the next. The club's achievements included 15 Italian championship titles and two Spengler Cup victories.
However, those successes lie in the distant past. The Milano Hockey Club, founded in 2026, is now carrying on this legacy while pursuing a modern, international vision. The club aims to return Milan to the pinnacle of European ice hockey while simultaneously building a sustainable future for the sport. Joining the win2day ICE Hockey League thus marks the beginning of a new era for the Milan team.
North American-influenced roster
There are only four "true" Italians on the current Milan roster. Alongside ten import players from Canada and the USA, all other players hold dual Italian citizenship. Several professionals are already known from their time in the win2day ICE Hockey League, such as Scott Valentine (formerly Bolzano), Giordano Finoro (one season in Bolzano), Mikael Frycklund, and Nick Saracino (both formerly Pustertal).
The Head Coach
Doug Shedden is a 65-year-old Canadian who brings extensive expertise from top European clubs. His background includes stints in the Swiss NL, KHL, DEL, and the Finnish Liiga—covering almost every major league of note. Last season, Shedden also gained valuable experience in the win2day ICE Hockey League as head coach in Bolzano. He is assisted by an all-Finnish coaching staff (goaltending and assistant coaches).
Fiera Ice Arena
The MHC’s new home—currently nearing completion—is the Fiera Ice Arena, a modern ice sports facility located in northwest Milan within the Rho Fieramilano exhibition grounds. The arena was built from scratch over the summer and has a capacity of 3,998 spectators. The Italian team will play its first home game on October 9 against Innsbruck; by then, they will have already completed eight away games.
The Red Bulls are set to make their first appearance in Milan on December 2. The first home game against the new Italian club takes place this coming Sunday.
