Pioneers Vorarlberg vs. Red Bulls
With just one win from six regular-season games, the Red Bulls are still searching for consistency in their game. They aim to take a step in that direction in Feldkirch, even though they have generally struggled in the region in recent years.

Statement Adrian Gesson
The Situation
After regaining some momentum with their victory in Budapest last Sunday, the Red Bulls suffered a setback with yesterday’s loss to Bolzano. It wasn't so much the final score—a 1–4 result that included an empty-net goal—but rather the manner of their play. Strong moments were overshadowed by too many lapses—in passing, puck handling, and finishing. Ultimately, the Red Bulls were left disappointed—not so much by the defeat against the third-placed team (who were certainly beatable), but by their own performance, which fell short of what they had intended to deliver on the ice.
Statement from Nash Nienhuis
"It was unacceptable [yesterday]. We have much more in the locker room—much more we can give the fans. We need to get back to the fundamentals of hockey: getting pucks to the net, creating traffic in front, and making it hard for the goalie to see the puck. Communicating with each other on the ice. And building back up from there."
The away game in Feldkirch is intended to mark a fresh start of sorts. The Red Bulls are eager to find their true form and look forward to the return of Michael Raffl, who is expected to play a key role against the Pioneers. This leaves only Florian Baltram (recovering from injury) missing from the lineup.
Feldkirch Still Without Points
The away game against the Pioneers represents the ultimate test for the Red Bulls as they look to regain their confidence, even if only in small steps. The Vorarlberg side has lost all six of its games so far, yet has conceded fewer goals (23) than the Red Bulls (27 in five games) and scored the same number of goals (15). The Vorarlberg team has already faced heavyweights like Milano (4–5), Villach (1–2), and Graz (1–3); even yesterday in Innsbruck, they were defeated by a margin of just one goal (4–5).
Two forwards among the Feldkirch scorers deserve special attention. Dutchman Guus van Nes—who played for VSV last season—has already found the net five times, while Noah Serdachny, who launched his professional career in Feldkirch after coming from the NCAA, has scored four goals. Overall, compared to last year, the Vorarlberg side features a more or less entirely new roster (16 arrivals, 18 departures) and has fully utilized the maximum quota of ten import players.
Last game of the Red Bulls in Feldkirch
Statement from Adrian Gesson
"Feldkirch simply plays well at home. They always play a tight, physical game, never give up, and fight for every puck. We have to prepare to play our best game and go into the match at full throttle. The league standings don't matter; we need to find a way to get the job done."
