Highlights Red Bulls vs. EC-KAC
Background
With yesterday's victory in Graz, the Red Bulls climbed back into second place in the standings for the first time since September 28th of last year, pushing the Graz99ers, who have played two fewer games, into third. However, this victory came at a high price, as the emotionally charged game in Graz meant the Red Bulls would be missing at least three key players in tomorrow's top-of-the-table clash against the league leaders: Florian Baltram and Dennis Robertson (both injured) and Tyler Lewington (suspended for one game).
Players from the Red Bull Hockey Juniors team are expected to fill these gaps. An early return for Ali Wukovits, who hasn't played this season since undergoing hip surgery in July of last year, is also a possibility. This makes it all the more crucial for the team to pull together even more and present a united front against KAC.
Klagenfurt unchallenged at the top
KAC has been the undisputed number one for many weeks and has already established a clear lead with a seven-point advantage over Salzburg and Graz, who are tied on points. In their last seven games, the Carinthians have only suffered one defeat, against Pustertal. Yesterday, they secured a 5-4 away victory against Feldkirch.
KAC not only boasts the league's top scorer, Mathias From, but also benefits from a roster depth that allows all lines to contribute to scoring. The Red Bulls also possess these qualities, so another closely contested matchup is expected in the fourth and final regular-season encounter between these two long-time rivals.
Statement by Manny Viveiros
"Every game has its own story, and that will be the case in Klagenfurt as well. KAC is the best team in the league, and we're clearly expecting another tough game. We have to play with great discipline and work hard defensively. If we want to get points in Klagenfurt, we definitely need to be at our best."
