When the Red Bulls travel to Graz tomorrow, it will be the fourth and final meeting of the current ICE regular season. Graz won the first two encounters, underlining their ambitions this season more strongly than they have in a long time. In their last game before Christmas, the Red Bulls secured a 3-0 victory at home – and now aim to win their fourth encounter in Graz. Although they recently suffered a 2-3 defeat against bottom-of-the-table Innsbruck, they bounced back immediately in Feldkirch and will enter tomorrow's game against the Red Bulls well-rested (having a bye yesterday). Adding to their advantage is home-ice advantage; the 99ers have won their last six home games, with their last loss at home (2-3 SO vs. Ljubljana) dating back to December 17th.
When defensive strongholds clash
The Graz vs. Salzburg matchup is also a clash of the league's two strongest defensive teams. In recent rounds, the Styrians, with 80 goals conceded, have overtaken the Red Bulls, who have 86, to claim first place. Salzburg has a slight offensive advantage: with 135 goals, they have scored ten more than the Styrians. Considering that Graz has played two fewer games than the Red Bulls, the matchup is quite evenly contested.
