Red Bulls embark on a week-long road tripBudapest, Graz, and Klagenfurt on the schedule// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg is embarking on a three-game road trip in the win2day ICE Hockey League, facing FTC-Telekom Budapest (Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.) and then the two top teams in the standings, Graz (Friday) and Klagenfurt (Sunday).
This is a huge challenge for the Red Bulls and also a good test for the upcoming playoffs. They aim to defend their third-place position on the road and thus maintain their chance of climbing further up the standings.

Current Situation
It remains exciting! With nine rounds remaining in the regular season, the battle for the top spots in the standings is in full swing. League leaders Klagenfurt have pulled away slightly with 82 points and a four-point lead. They are followed by Graz, Salzburg (with one more game played), and Bolzano, each three points behind. Every point is crucial if they want to start the playoffs as high as possible (home-ice advantage being key) and, ideally, secure early qualification for the 2026/27 CHL (the top two teams after the regular season plus the eventual ICE Hockey League champion).
Salzburg in Flow
The Red Bulls have lost only one of their 15 games since December 7th – on January 11th in Bruneck – and have thus climbed unstoppably to third place in the standings. Their form curve is consistently upward and reached its current peak with the recent 7-4 home victory against Bolzano, who are themselves fighting for third place. The Red Bulls not only overcame a 1-3 deficit in that game, but also impressively quelled the South Tyroleans with a strong team performance. They aim to continue in this vein on Wednesday in Budapest, where Salzburg lost 1-2 to the Hungarians in their only previous away game against them on December 3rd.
Budapest fights for pre-playoffs
The Red Bulls are preparing for another tough match in Budapest, as the tenth-placed Hungarians also need every point to qualify for the pre-playoffs (places 7 to 10). Head Coach Timo Saarikoski's team has only managed two wins in their last eleven games and has lost their last three away games. Before that, they celebrated home victories against Feldkirch and Innsbruck. Forwards Braeden Shaw, Tyler Coulter, and Jussi Tammela deserve special attention, as they have scored almost half of Budapest's 102 goals (46 in total).
Highlights Red Bulls vs. FTC-Telekom Budapest
Statement by Mario Huber
"We want to get off to a good start on the road trip and secure our first points in Budapest. However, we expect another tough match against the Hungarians because they are a very strong offensive team. We're focusing on executing our system even better, and then the results will follow. The important thing is that everyone plays for the team. That's our top priority."
