35 A visit to the Parsch elementary school
Well, it's not exactly a proper lesson when our players visit school classes and talk about their lives as professional ice hockey players. It's more about charmingly presenting the fastest team sport in the world and conveying why the guys love playing ice hockey so much.
It's definitely confusing at first, even for those who've seen a game before. The fact that players should ideally only be on the ice for 40 seconds during a line change is something you almost don't notice if you're not paying attention. Add to that the many lines, face-off circles, and rules of the game—it can all get quite complicated.
Ali and Peter patiently answered all the questions from the students in classes 3a and 4a at Parsch Elementary School and challenged the boys and girls with their own questions: How heavy is a hockey stick? How long does a penalty last? How many players are on a team, and how many sit on the bench? One girl immediately had a suggestion: "I think it would be best if three players sat on the bench."
The explanations became more tangible, quite literally, when Johannes volunteered to put on the equipment. When Ali tested the shin guards with the stick, he didn't even flinch. So everything was safe! Whether one might lose a tooth later – that is, after age 18, when wearing the face mask on the helmet is no longer mandatory – is another story…
The Red Bulls would like to thank the two teachers, Ms. Fulde and Ms. Brandstätter, who did a great job preparing the children for the ice hockey lesson.
A special thank you also goes to our players Ali Wukovits, Peter Hochkofler, Lukas Schreier, and Maximilian Wurzer, who, during their rehabilitation, always gladly stepped in as teachers and were able to inspire the children every time. Maxi and Lukas are already back in action, and the wait for Ali and Peter's comeback is also almost over.
