Highlights Red Bulls vs. Pioneers Vorarlberg
Game Summary
Both teams started aggressively, but the Red Bulls quickly gained the upper hand and took an early lead. Michael Raffl dribbled around the defense and then beat goaltender Alex Caffi right at the near post (5th minute). This was followed by a great scoring chance for Troy Bourke in front of the net (7th minute), before Florian Baltram was set up in the slot and scored to make it 2-0 (8th minute). Salzburg then took control of the game and continued to create chance after chance, while the visitors posed little threat. Travis St. Denis finally extended the lead before the first intermission with a spectacular backhand shot under the crossbar (17th minute), making it 3-0 at the break.
In the second period, the Vorarlberg team initially kept the game close, with Salzburg's goaltender David Kickert being called into action for the first time, making several good saves. During a promising power play, the Red Bulls were only thwarted by the visiting goalie. They were then fortunate to escape with a shot that hit the crossbar while shorthanded during a frantic scramble in front of the net (32nd minute). Overall, however, the Red Bulls continued to have the better opportunities and capitalized on them: Dennis Robertson made no mistake with Troy Bourke's perfect cross-ice pass (34th minute). Michael Raffl finished off a passing play with his second goal of the day (36th minute), and Troy Bourke hammered the puck under the crossbar from a sharp angle while a penalty was being called (37th minute). He then added a brace, patiently waiting in front of the goalie before tapping the puck in for a 7-0 lead at the intermission.
In the final period, David Kickert made a monster save early on, and the Red Bulls continued to play their game, even though the Vorarlberg team never stopped attacking and launched some counterattacks. But the game was already decided by that point, and even though the Red Bulls didn't score in the final period, it remained a clear and well-deserved home victory against the Pioneers Vorarlberg.

Statement by Troy Bourke
"The win feels good. The offense worked well, and David Kickert did his job in goal when we needed him. We also needed a game like this for our confidence. We're happy with the win today, but we need to replicate it in the next game."
