Final duel rematch: Red Bulls eager for KlagenfurtTop match of the round live on ORF1// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueAfter a successful start to the regular season of the new season with the 4-3 victory in Bolzano, EC Red Bull Salzburg will face EC-KAC on Sunday in a home game of the win2day ICE Hockey League at the Salzburg Ice Arena (4:30 p.m., Ladies Night, ORF1).This is the eagerly awaited rematch of last year's final series, and KAC also started the new championship season with a winning start yesterday.
Starting Position
These two teams don't have many secrets from each other. They know each other from countless past encounters, and both teams have contested the final series in the last two seasons (both of which the Red Bulls won). For the new season, both teams made only minor changes to their roster, meaning the core of the team has remained intact on both sides. So, they know each other, and the eternal duel continues its exciting run on Sunday, which will be broadcast by ORF1 in the first live TV game of the new season.
Both teams have also mastered the start of the new season with flying colors. KAC won a decisive 4-0 at home against Székesfehérvár, barely allowing the Hungarians to develop in their own home turf. The Red Bulls prevailed 4-3 against HCB Südtirol Alperia in Bolzano in a game that was at times quite emotional, playing the better team for much of the way.
Reunion of old companions on the coaching bench
It will certainly be emotional behind the bench as well, as the Red Bulls have had a new head coach since this summer in Manny Viveiros (59), who successfully shaped the Klagenfurt team's fortunes for many years until 2014, first as a player and then as a coach. On the other side, Kirk Furey wields the coaching reins. The 49-year-old Canadian played as a defenceman in Klagenfurt under Viveiros's wing from 2007 to 2015. He has been head coach of the Klagenfurt professional team for two years and is now reunited with his former coach after a long absence.

"Yesterday in Bolzano was a good game; we were one step ahead of the South Tyroleans in many phases. That was a good start. Now we face KAC, and we always expect a tough match. We want to get the first three points at home, but we know it will be particularly difficult against Klagenfurt. I'm also expecting a heated match at the start of the season, which we're already looking forward to."
