Red Bulls break new ground in fitness trainingAli Wukovits: “This is how we want to get to the next level”// TrainingThey've been sweating for the new season for a long time! In preparation for the title defense mission, the Red Bulls are working hard on their fitness and are breaking new ground this year. And these lead to the Ducks Pond, the home of the Salzburg Ducks. It is well known that the foundations for the following season are laid in the summer. An iron rule that the Red Bulls have always adhered to. Strength training, ergometers, bike rides; the list of activities could be longer. And it clearly repeats itself from year to year when it comes to replenishing energy stores.
In their search for variety, the Red Bulls have embarked on a new path that is designed to provide new stimuli, but at the same time continue to lead to maximum fitness development. Twice a week, the defending champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League move their training to the Salzburg Ducks football stadium, where they complete an exercise and movement program from American football, which is quite similar to ice hockey in many respects. And pushes the boys to their physical limits!

Forward Ali Wukovits
"It's very good and fun. We still train in a very ice hockey-specific way, but we've incorporated more athletic things, more sprints, including against each other, small competitions, reacting to situations, coordinative things. That's how we want to get to the next level. It works very well and is incredibly strenuous."

When the Red Bulls on the pitsch...
Athletic Coach Michael Tschernkowitsch
"In recent years, we have always tried to implement something new in training. With the support of the Salzburg Ducks, we have now been given the opportunity to use their playing and training facility with equipment from American football. The boys are enthusiastic about it and so we can offer them a well-rounded package of strength and endurance exercises."
Incidentally, the Red Bulls receive “exclusive” know-how from one of their physiotherapists, Gerald Breymann, who once played professional football himself, spent several years in an American college team and won four Austrian national championship titles, among other things.
