Thomas Raffl remains the figurehead of the Red Bulls The captain enters his 15th season in Salzburg// Team updateEC Red Bull Salzburg is pleased to announce that Thomas Raffl will continue to play for the ten-time champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The 38-year-old forward has extended his contract and is aiming for his eighth title with the Red Bulls. The Red Bulls and Thomas Raffl have been inseparable for 15 years. Born in Villach, he came to Salzburg from Luleå (SHL) in 2009 and only missed the 2015/16 season, when he made his American debut with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL. In all that time, the 1.94m tall model athlete has matured into a player who constantly tries to give his best on the ice and has also led the team as a strong personality with the “C” on his chest since 2019.
Highlights Thomas Raffl
Currently the oldest player in the league at 38, he impresses year after year with his incredible fitness, which allows him to continue to play a long season at a high level. With 12 goals in the basic round and 4 goals in the playoffs, he was once again one of Salzburg's assets in the offensive zone last season. His experience and mental strength also benefit the Red Bulls in the postseason, with Raffl scoring the championship-winning goal in three of the last four ICE Hockey League championships alone.

Further milestones pave his way. He has already won seven ICE titles with the Red Bulls and one with Villach (2006). The veteran has played a total of 966 games in the ICE Hockey League to date. Only the former Salzburg player Thomas Koch, who is no longer active, has played more with 1023 games; a mark that Raffl could break next season. The Austrian national team is also relying on the experience of the striker, who starts his seventh World Cup as captain in Stockholm on Friday and has played the most games of all active Austrian national team players with 135 appearances in red-white-red.
The Red Bulls are looking forward to the 15th season with the father of a daughter and would like to thank him for his performances in the past championship season.
