Nash Nienhuis enters his second season with the Red Bulls The defenseman has quickly found his feet in Salzburg // Team updateEC Red Bull Salzburg and defenseman Nash Nienhuis are looking forward to the next season together after the Canadian started his professional career in Salzburg last summer after graduating from college at Michigan State University. It was completely new territory for Nash Nienhuis when he moved from the NCAA, the American college league, from Michigan State University to the Red Bulls in Salzburg last season. It was his debut season in professional ice hockey - and it went really well for the 25-year-old Canadian, who also has American and Austrian citizenship, winning the win2day ICE Hockey League title.
Nienhuis quickly got used to the larger European ice surface and the level of play in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In 54 games, including the playoffs, he scored 4 goals and 17 assists. The agile defenseman makes up for his smaller stature with his great mobility and fine stickhandling, with which he also regularly made his mark in the offensive zone.
Best moments of Nash Nienhuis
However, the defender did not come to Austria completely unprepared, as his father Kraig Nienhuis played in Klagenfurt and Ljubljana for several years in the 1990s and even took part in the 1996 World Championship with the Austrian national team. Nash also wants to offer himself to the Austrian national team, but according to the regulations he has to wait until 2026 before he is allowed to represent the red-white-red colors. The defender will be able to play for the Red Bulls as an Austrian from the 2026/27 season.
