Starting position
With yesterday's 3:2 home win against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 to kick off the playoff quarter-finals, the Red Bulls not only took a 1:0 lead in the best-of-seven series, but also recorded their fifth win in a row against the Hungarians. This means that the Red Bulls have won all their games against the Hungarians so far this season. Head Coach Oliver David's team can therefore go into the next game with a lot of confidence and will also be looking to win their sixth game of the season.
From the Hungarians' point of view, the motto can only be to end Salzburg's run and level the series in the quarter-finals. In yesterday's game, both teams had probably not yet revealed all their cards, but with the late equalizer to make it 2:3, the Hungarians showed that they are always a force to be reckoned with. Just like ten days ago in the last game of the basic round, in which the Red Bulls led 4:0 in Székesfehérvár, but only won 4:3 in the end. The Red Bulls are definitely expecting a much tougher game tomorrow than in the first quarter-final match.
Playoff series with Székesfehérvár
The Red Bulls and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 have met three times in the postseason in the past. And the Red Bulls have emerged victorious three times: In the 2018/19 season, Salzburg won the quarterfinal series 4-2, in the 2021/22 final and in the 2022/23 quarterfinal even twice with 4-0 victories.
