Red Bulls want to score full points also in InnsbruckLuca Auer: "Must not allow so many breakaways"// win2day ICE Hockey LeagueEC Red Bull Salzburg will play the away game against HC TIWAG Innsbruck "Die Haie" in the fifth round of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Tuesday (19:15, Live.ice.field hockey). After the only away game in the first four rounds so far in Székesfehérvár, the reigning champions also want to score points in Tyrol and defend the lead in the standings they captured yesterday.
Forward Luca Auer
"Innsbruck is a team that converts its chances. We have to watch out for that and play better than in the encounters before, where we often gave away too many breakaways. Means for us disciplined play over 60 minutes and then it can be a good game for us."
The starting position
After the first four games of the win2day ICE Hockey League, the Red Bulls remain unbeaten, are at the top of the table for the first time in the new season since yesterday's 6:2 home win against Feldkirch with 11 points (tied with Pustertal) and have also scored the most goals so far with 18 goals (also tied with Pustertal). With Peter Schneider, who has scored 5 goals and 5 assists in 4 games, the Red Bulls also provide the current league top scorer.
HCI is holding on to 4th place in the table after four games with two wins and two losses and only had to bow to the strong teams from Villach and Bruneck. Last Saturday, the Sharks prevailed in Ljubljana with 2-1. With a total of 14 goals scored, Innsbruck also have their sights set sharply, so as is often the case between these two teams, an offensive duel can be expected.
The opponent
Innsbruck played a strong first round last season and entered the playoffs in third place, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals against the spusu Vienna Capitals. In the summer, the team lost a number of well-known players, including Adam Helewka, Daniel Leavens and Tyler Coulter, three of the top four scorers of last season.
With Brady Shaw, however, last year's top scorer from Innsbruck continues to play for the Sharks. As well as Corey Mackin, with 2 goals and 5 assists currently the best Tyrolean striker and at the same time with Salzburg's Thomas Raffl with 7 scorer points the third best scorer in the entire league. Constant, however, is the coaching bench; the 39-year-old Canadian Mitch O'Keefe, who started as Goalie Coach in Innsbruck in 2018, leads the Sharks into his fourth term as Head Coach.
