Red Bulls chase first CHL win against Stavanger Oilers Chay Genoway: "Want to prove we belong in the Champions League"// CHLThe Red Bulls will face the Stavanger Oilers at home in the CHL on Saturday (20:20, ORF Sport+). After a strong performance yesterday against Ingolstadt, the Salzburgers are looking for a win in the race for the playoff spots. 29 to 23 shots on goal and an enormously pressure-filled final third were not enough for the Red Bulls to win yesterday against German runners-up ERC Ingolstadt, who turned the game around with a double strike and eventually won 2-1. The Red Bulls showed a strong performance, but were not effective enough in their finishing and thus are still without points after three games. However, the Salzburgers have improved from game to game in the CHL and now want to turn that into something countable against the Norwegians tomorrow.

"I think we played pretty well yesterday and can take a lot of good things from the game. We will continue to work on scoring goals. We have a lot of respect for Stavanger, they gave us two tough games last year. But we want to prove that we are rightfully playing in the Champions Hockey League with the best teams in Europe."
The Red Bulls had a good experience with the Stavanger Oilers last season, winning both games in the CHL group stage. However, the victories had to be hard-earned; at home the Red Bulls won 3:2 after overtime and in Stavanger with 3:2 even after penalty shootout. The Salzburgers are preparing for another tough fight, but want to continue their winning streak against the Norwegians.
In the current CHL Regular Season, the Oilers have lost in Pardubice and at home against Färjestad BK, but lost at home against Sweden's champions, the Växjö Lakers, only after penalty shootout with 6:7. Thus, the Norwegians hold in the table with one point on the 20th place, the Red Bulls are 22nd. On rank 16 and thus a playoff place, the Salzburgers, who can start with the same lineup as yesterday, are missing three points at the moment.
